Get to know me

Hi. first of all, I'd like to thank you for visiting my website, it's great to have you here! My name is Emmalene (pronounced Emmaleen), and I'm the maker, owner sole creator of all the wonderful pieces you see here. I live on the Isle of Wight, right by the sea, so I'm never short of inspiration for creating new pieces. 

Ever since I was a young girl, I have always been artistic. being an extremely shy and nervous disposition, I peace and freedom of expression through drawing and listening to my music. And now, instead of drawing on paper, I draw with it!

Before I ventured into creating jewellery about 2 years ago, I have gathered over 15 years of experience creating filigree art (more commonly known as paper quilling). I discovered the art form whilst flicking through a craft magazine. this style immediately caught my eye and, I quickly purchased some basic tools and took to it straight away. I love it because its different. I don't follow trends purely to keep up with fashion, i simply create pieces that I love, and that I hope you'll love too. After all, who wants to look the same as everyone else!

At Filigree you can expect to find beautiful everyday pieces that will elevate your everyday outfits and transition perfectly for evenings and nights out. I also have a range of luxury statement pieces. They are much more than just handmade, they are mini pieces of art to dangle from your ears.

Materials & Cost

I use high quality sterling silver, vermeil (gold plated sterling silver) and 14k gold fill hardware for all of my earring findings. I source all of these from a local company right here on the island.

I mainly work with 2mm paper strips for all of my designs. I coat all my pieces in a special sealant. This ensures they keep their vibrancy and shape, making them sturdy and long lasting with the proper care and storage.

Whilst I cant share all my secrets on how I create my pieces, I do encourage you to give me a follow on my socials for some of the techniques I use and regular updates on new collections and special offers.

Cost

My prices are based on the way in which each piece is made. I take into consideration the time, cost of materials, the techniques that I use, and the skill. It takes skilled craftsmanship to envision and create the lacy and elaborate designs. Whilst anyone can learn to quill, as its not difficult to pick up the basic skills, it takes years of experience and a lot of patience to create small intricate designs and make them into wearable jewellery.

All my items are made by hand, but as I sell what I have already made, I will be able to ship your order to you in 5-7 business days from the time your order is placed. If I suspect this will take longer during busy periods, this section of the shipping policy will be adjusted to keep you informed, and I will also have an announcement bar at the top of my website.

Which courier do you use?

All orders are sent via Royal Mail. We do not use any other courier. If you are in the UK, your order will be sent 1st class tracked. If you are in the US, your order will be sent international tracked and signed. If you are ordering from Canada, your order will be sent international tracked.

Once your order is dispatched and is in the care of Royal Mail, we are not responsible for any delays due to events out of our control (For example: Royal Mail industrial action, extreme weather conditions or delays during seasonal holidays).

Missing parcels can only be investigated with Royal Mail once 10 working days have passed from the expected delivery date, as these are the guidelines set out by Royal Mail.

What if my item arrives damaged?

In the highly unlikely event of your item(s) arriving damaged, you must notify me as soon as it arrives and send photo proof. Thereafter I will resolve the issue.

I am not responsible for any damage caused by misuse. It is up to the customer to ensure all items are properly stored and cared for according to the care instructions. You can find these located within the website in the description, under each listed product. 

What if the incorrect item arrives?

If I have made a mistake on your order, I will offer to refund or resend depending on the item originally purchased.

What if I have ordered the wrong item?

All of my products are handmade, so I do not offer refunds or exchanges on items if you change your mind or ordered in the wrong colour or style. I provide a detailed product description for each listing, along with information on the hardware used and the approximate measurements.
